Our Story

At Beach Church in Raumati on the Kapiti Coast, we gather around a person, His name is Jesus. He is on the move, and He is calling us to follow. We are a values-driven church, Pentecostal in style, contemporary in worship, open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and committed to four aspirational biblical values:

  • We believe that the bible is the inspired Word of God (John 1:1)

  • We glorify God as Father, Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and honour the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit

  • We are obedient to the Great Commission locally and globally as found in Matthew 28:18-20

  • We treasure Manaakitanga (extravagant hospitality) here at Beach Church. It shapes our identity in both the church family and wider community

Past Timeline

We began as a local Baptist Church in Raumati. For over 60 years, we have remained a place of worship and community in Raumati Beach. In the early 2000’s, we focused on a youth-led fellowship and were known as Real Life Church.

In 2013, the local church moved in a new direction by appointing Phil and Bron Tait from Christchurch as our new pastors. This began a new transformation towards the fellowship we are today. Beach Church was born, and Phil and Bron led the church for seven years, until 2021. Then they returned to Christchurch and serve as supporting pastors within the national Vineyard movement.

in 2021, Gradon and Annette Harvey became our caretaker pastors while we waited to appoint a new pastor.

In 2024, the eldership appointed Andrew and Ella Marquet to lead the fellowship. In August of 2026, after Andrew and Ella departed, Beach Church leadership decided to move to a biblical lead eldership to provide spiritual leadership and direction going forward.

Raumati Beach

Beach Church loves its connection to the local community. We are on the Kapiti Coast, about 60km north of Wellington. Raumati Beach is a settled suburb of Paraparaumu with a great coastal beach and wonderful facilities. Our growing local population is over 55,000 and expected to increase by 40% in the next 25 years. We share Raumati township with several other local churches. Raumati is a vibrant shopping area, and you have opportunities to connect after services. Numerous local cafes and eateries are within walking distance, helping us build lasting relationships.

The Beach Ethos

The church has always had a family focus, with a vibrant youth and children’s ministry. We love our position in our community. Our services and meetings are punctuated with coffee and hospitality. Please connect with us; we would love to get to know you better. One of Beach’s keys is that we are small enough to know each other and big enough to impact the world around us. At Beach Church, we focus on becoming passionate lovers of God and building His identity into our lives so we can influence our community. )Matthew 22:37-39
